The year 2023 was a challenging period for all of us as our country faced economic fluctuations and social challenges. In this process, as Doğanlar Furniture Group, we have always prioritized the spirit of solidarity and considered supporting the society as one of our main responsibilities. We continue our aid and solidarity efforts as part of our understanding of standing by the society not only in challenging times but also in every period.
Despite all the challenges, we survived 2023 with strength thanks to our resilience and determination to work. We continue to make a difference in our industry with our high targets and innovative solutions.
We are very pleased to share our first Sustainability Report with our stakeholders. With this report, we, as Doğanlar Furniture Group, transparently share the important steps we have taken in 2023, the innovative solutions we have developed within the framework of our environmental and social responsibilities and our long-term sustainability goals and present them to the views of all our stakeholders.

At Doğanlar Furniture Group, we see sustainability as an integral part of our long-term value creation process. By integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into our business processes, we prioritize not only financial success but also our responsibilities to society and the planet.
Our “Furniture of the Future” vision is based on our responsibility to nature and people. In this context, we manage all our business processes from supply chain to production processes, from product design to stakeholder relations in line with sustainability principles. At every step, we act with the strength we receive from our employees and adhering to ethical principles with the aim of producing furniture for the future.
We conducted the materiality analysis, which forms the basis of our sustainability strategy, in order to identify the most critical issues affecting our ESG performance. In this process, we adopted a double materiality approach and evaluated both the impacts of our activities on the environment and society and the reflections of these factors on the financial performance of Doğanlar Furniture Group.
During the materiality analysis process, we adopted a multi-stage approach to assess our company's sustainability issues.
First, we created a large pool of topics by taking into account global and sectoral trends, peer company analysis and international sustainability standards. We supported this stage with a comprehensive desk research, while taking into account national and international reports that guide our business strategy, best practices in the sector and legal regulations in the markets where Doğanlar Furniture Group operates.
In addition to desk research, we deepened the process with in-company executive interviews and stakeholder studies.
Interviews with managers from different functions helped us understand which issues are prioritized in line with our company's strategic goals. At the same time, through workshops with our stakeholders and internal stakeholder surveys, we analyzed how sustainability issues affect our company's operations and how these issues are perceived by our stakeholders. In this process, we gained a perspective that integrates the views of both internal and external stakeholders by aligning the expectations of our stakeholders with our company's sustainability goals.
We attach great importance to our R&D activities to protect nature and build a sustainable future. By using innovative technologies and environmentally friendly materials, we contribute to the protection of natural resources.
At our R&D center, we are constantly conducting research on low carbon emission production techniques, recyclable materials and energy efficiency.
In particular, we develop innovative solutions for the efficient use of wood raw materials, waste management and the integration of renewable energy sources.
We work to raise sustainability standards in the furniture industry and develop environmentally friendly production techniques.
We regularly report the results of our R&D activities and measure their contribution to our sustainability goals.

As Doğanlar Furniture Group, we have built our sustainability strategy as a holistic approach integrated into every stage of our business processes. At the heart of the strategy is a dual materiality approach that takes into account both the financial impact of sustainability issues and the environmental and social consequences in our sphere of influence. Based on a materiality analysis, our strategy focuses on four core value areas. With each armchair we produce with recycled fabrics made from PET bottles, we prevent approximately 1,000 PET bottles from turning into waste.
In 2023,
we made investments in recycled, organic and biodegradable
materials.
As part of our efforts to use recycled materials in different products, we are working towards the goal of designing 5% of new products with recycled and upcycled materials every year by 2026.
In 2023, we recycled 70,000 PET bottles in return for using 2,000 meters of fabric in the production of plinths and headboards. We used 1,500 meters of recycled fabric in the production of armchairs, sofas and armchairs.
We aim to increase the proportion of recyclable and biodegradable materials in all our products, and we continue our R&D studies in this direction. Our testing processes for furniture products such as consoles, TV units and cabinets made of biodegradable chipboard, recyclable or biobased materials are ongoing, and we plan to start mass production upon completion of the studies.
We adopt circular designs by using recycled yarns and fabrics in upholstery fabrics. The upholstery of the armchairs in the Angelic collection under the Kelebek brand is produced from recycled yarns. Under the Doğtaş brand, we have been offering the armchairs produced with fabrics obtained by recycling PET bottles for sale since 2021. With this armchair, where an average of 25 meters of fabric is used, we ensure that approximately 1,000 PET bottles are recycled.
Thanks to recycled fibers in mattress production, we contributed to the circular economy by recycling 1 million PET bottles for 12 tons of consumption.
